<p>Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders in the nervous system caused due to injuries in the brain before, during or after the birth. Since the most common victims for this condition are children, there are many disorders that can be associated with it such as seeing, hearing, imagining, thinking and movement. There is no permanent cure for this condition; however treatment to make the child as independent as possible can be achieved. Physical fitness can play a key role in this treatment by helping the child to improve posture, muscle tone and balance.</p>
<p>Since the degree of the condition varies for each child, physical activities should be designed such that they are safe. Studies have shown that people with cerebral palsy who are inactive have a greater severity of symptoms and lower sense of well being than the active cerebral palsy patients who follow cerebral palsy fitness training. Many people with this condition lead a sedentary lifestyle due to the decreased motor skills which do not allow them to participate in sports or other physical activity. This leads to secondary conditions such as obesity, fragility, pain and poor growth patterns. Cerebral palsy fitness training can eliminate all these secondary conditions as well as give a sense of well being to the patient.</p>
<p>There are a range of fitness trainings that can be given to a child with CP such as flexibility training, cardio and resistance training. Flexibility training improves movement in people with CP with the help of static stretches that are not held for more than 30 seconds. These stretches have to be done at least thrice a week and yoga is recommended to be the best flexibility training for children with cerebral palsy.</p>
<p>For cardio training, aerobic exercises are proved to be beneficial since they improve endurance and cardiovascular health. Cycling for 20 minutes twice a week, swimming, mat exercises and modified aerobic dance routines are recommended, as well as other <a href="http://www.cerebralpalsytraining.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_new">cerebral palsy exercises</a> have proven beneficial. Similarly, resistance training is also a vital part of the fitness training for cerebral palsy children. Resistance training is a physical therapy that will improve a range of motion and overall muscle tone. These activities should also be modified according to the child&#8217;s requirements so that he finds it enjoyable and fun.</p>
<p>However, children with CP need to do all these physical fitness programs under supervision of a physical therapist or physical trainer since they are specialized in the needs of special children. Moreover, the fitness program should be begun only after consulting a physician and keeping in mind the safety modifications that are required to be kept in place based on the type and severity of cerebral palsy. If a child with cerebral palsy cannot move about, then they can do it from a seated position. Besides, they may wish to use cuff weights and machines rather than resistance bands so that they don&#8217;t lose grip while exercising!</p>

<p>Surgical teams consist of both sterile and non-sterile surgical members. Scrubbed personnel, otherwise known as sterile team members, work directly with the surgical field. Non-sterile members still wear scrubs, however, they work on the outskirts of the surgical field and do not require a sterile gown and mask with bacterial barriers. Once sterile team members don their surgical gown they should not come into contact with non-sterile team members. This is because the sterile qualities of surgical gowns are limited to protect team members directly in the surgical field.</p>
<p>Sterile Drapes in the Operating Room</p>
<p>Sterile drapes play a vital role in the operating room. These drapes provide an aseptic barrier preventing or minimizing the passage of microorganisms in the sterile field. Drapes should placed on furniture in the operating room, the patient, and equipment. The only site that should be exposed is the site where the incision will be made. The position of the drapes is important. They should not be moved or rearranged during the procedure.</p>
<p>Sterile Field Should Be Monitored and Maintained Throughout the Entire Procedure</p>
<p>Surgical technicians and registered surgical nurses should be present to monitor and maintain the sterile field at all times during the surgery. It is the team&#8217;s effort to reduce the likelihood of contamination by preventing breaches of sterility. If breaches of sterility do happen, the team members should take action immediately.</p>
<p>These are just a few of the many principles and standards operating room team members should follow. Each standard has a purpose in preventing site infection. If team members practice these sterilization techniques, microorganisms will not transfer into the surgical wound. Provide an optimum level of care to your patients and put every effort into preventing operating room contamination.</p>

<p>That day, I decided to fix it. I started slowly paying attention to what I was eating. Not genuinely what I was consuming, but just how much I was eating. I noticed that on a typical Taco Villa run, I would normally get a burrito and a chalupa. The burrito itself filled me up. Why did I order the chalupa? An even greater question, is why do I go ahead and eat it, even though I knew I was full?</p>
<p>I started paying attention to that. Not just noticing it, I mean really paying attention to that. I started eating on the smaller plates in our cabinet. Surprisingly, once again, smaller portions filled me up. And however, if I put a lot more food on the plate, I would still eat it.</p>
<p>Then I moved on to only consuming when I was hungry. This meant not eating since it was &#8220;lunch time&#8221;. If I wasn&#8217;t hungry at noon, why was I consuming? You see, the myth that you need to eat to maintain your metabolism burning, is just that&#8230;a myth. Studies have proven that your metabolism does not slow down, even soon after 3 days of fasting (for a lot more details on this, check out Brad Pilon&#8217;s Eat Quit Eat). Consuming every single couple of hours has absolutely nothing to do with it.</p>
<p>Then I discovered intermittent fasting, and became fascinated by it. The Eat Stop Eat philosophy actually interested me, and Brad Pilon did an outstanding job on the book. If you&#8217;re interested, I extremely recommend it.</p>
<p>I tell you all this, not to create it sound like a walk within the park, since it wasn&#8217;t. The strange factor is, the hardest part was dealing with ME! Realizing that I didn&#8217;t have to eat, just simply because it was time was very liberating. I realized that I don&#8217;t need to think about food all the time.
