<p>Healthy fruit smoothies are comprised of fruit and pure drinking water. Envision the natural beauty of fruit thriving in the sun and rain. Imagine fruit trees. Imagine vineyards and strawberry fields. This scenery does not belie the nutrients.</p>
<p>Fruits are filled with vitamins, many of which contain vitamin A, C and E. These are antioxidant rich foods which help keep free radicals from damaging cell structures. Free radicals occur naturally from food being broken down in the body. They are formed during the oxidation process. Sometimes when an atom loses an electron in its outer ring, the atom becomes a free radical. The atom becomes positively charged because of the lack of the negatively charged electron. Since opposites attract, the positively charged atom or molecule that is now a free radical will seek out another electron from a balanced atom. In time this reactive process causes biological damage. Drink healthy fruit smoothies enriched with antioxidants to manage these free radicals before they go into a frenzied chain reaction of electron stealing. Release that electron.</p>
<p>Some examples of fruits with antioxidants are watermelon and mangoes, filled with Vitamin A. Kiwis and strawberries are a good source of Vitamin C. Blackberries, blueberries and mangoes are enriched with Vitamin E.</p>
<p>The radiating sun can hurt the membrane of your skin cells. Again we must defend our castle with antioxidants, decreasing the chance for destruction of DNA in our skin cells. Also, since salicylic acid is an ingredient of aspirin they help with headaches. Another disease affecting skin and self-esteem is rosacea. Berries such as blueberries, raspberries and strawberries alleviate the burning and itching of rosacea.</p>
<p>Fruits also contain fiber. Fiber helps in digestion. Soluble fibers help the body by disallowing a high level of starch and sugar absorption. Thus cholesterol is lowered. One word &#8211; apples.</p>
<p>Remember do not cook fruits (or vegetables). By preparing foods through cooking above the temperature of 118 degrees Fahrenheit, the digestive enzymes will be destroyed. Digestive enzymes break down the food in the body so that the nutrients can be absorbed. In a raw foods diet, enzymes help start the digestive process. Thus when food is cooked and digestive enzymes are lost, our poor pancreas will have to work overtime to produce more enzymes. Digestive enzymes from raw food help as cures for acne and as a rosacea natural treatment.</p>
<p>Some interesting evidence has come to light in the life force of raw foods. Based on studies by two German scientists, Hardy Vogtman and Angelika Meier-Ploeger, organic foods contain more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than foods laden with fertilizer. Their theory is supported by counting light units emitted from the particular food. Every organism emits light levels albeit low. Another word for this light level is biophotons. Further these scientists believe that energy from light is stored in DNA during photosynthesis and that light is transmitted to cells and can be subsequently measured. Their ratio findings &#8211; the greater the light energy, the more life force. This life force then ingested by humans and animals makes us more vital.</p>
<p>Along these lines comes vibration. All living things have a vibrational frequency. All living elements are electromagnetic. Ingesting foods with higher vibrations such as organic fruits or uncooked foods is the best for your body&#8217;s cells and systems. Another interesting study is one performed with Kirlian photography, where the images show the electric fields of the subject. Pictures of organic and/or uncooked fruits and vegetables show amazing electrical auras emitting from the images compared to their cooked and fertilized counterparts.</p>
<p>Finally, the line between life and death is energy. Eat foods with a higher healthy vibration, such as fresh, organic raw fruit. When eating cooked foods, squeeze fresh organic lemon juice upon it, to raise the vibrational frequency. Your thoughts can change vibrational frequency as well. For a powerful, healthy fruit smoothie, think positively while enjoying your drink.</p>

<p>Did you ever wonder about healthy eating foods, and the level of added toxins? What about organically grown foods? The simple directive our doctors give to &#8220;eat more fruits and vegetables&#8221; has become more complicated in this day and age. Herbicides and pesticides are used widely, and on some crops more than others.</p>
<p>These poisons (to us AND the bugs) become incorporated into the crops themselves, and you must decide how much of this you are willing to put into your system. Would you drink a glass of insect killer? How about a shot of synthetic fertilizer? Perhaps not your conscious choice, but you may be doing just that.</p>
<p>Some conventionally grown foods are treated with more pesticides than others, and some of these crops grab and hold them more than others. And then there are the root crops &#8211; carrots, beets, parsnips and potatoes, which draw fertilizers, pesticides and other soil impurities to them through water absorption. If your goal is healthy eating, foods such as these must be avoided.</p>
<p>Thanks to a study by the Environmental Working Group&#8217;s controversial Dirty Dozen Foods, we have a practical list of foods that should only be eaten if organically grown. I say controversial because of course, the conventional farmers deny the harmful nature of toxic elements in foods. But they would have to, wouldn&#8217;t they?</p>
<p><strong>The Dirty Dozen</strong>: These foods should only be eaten when grown organically. They are listed from worst toward better.</p>
<p>1. Peach (worst &#8211; highest pesticide load)</p>
<p>2. Apple (still pretty bad)</p>
<p>3. Sweet Bell Pepper (Who knew bugs love them so much?)</p>
<p>4. Celery (Just sucks up all that fertilizer!)</p>
<p>5. Nectarine (insecticides, insecticides, insecticides!)</p>
<p>6. Strawberries (Takes a lot o&#8217; bug juice to get these babies grown)</p>
<p>7. Cherries (Bugs and birds love &#8216;em)</p>
<p>8. Kale (Must be fertilizers for this one.)</p>
<p>9. Lettuce (Yeah &#8211; fertilizers galore!)</p>
<p>10. Grapes &#8211; Imported (Uh-Oh! WHAT are they using for fertilizer?)</p>
<p>11. Carrot (Root crops are sweeter and safer organically grown)</p>
<p>12. Pear (Lots and lots of insecticide.)</p>
<p>These foods are some of the best healthy eating foods, but not with all the toxins added in, and the organic versions taste so much better, too.</p>
<p>On the other hand, some foods have a low pesticide use in conventional farming and are safer to eat. They generally have a skin or a peel protecting the edible portion. They are listed from best (onions) to the not quite as clean.</p>
<p>We can call this list <strong>The Clean Fifteen</strong>; fifteen foods that are still good even when grown conventionally.</p>
<p>1. Onion</p>
<p>2. Avocado</p>
<p>3. Sweet corn&#8211;frozen</p>
<p>4. Pineapple</p>
<p>5. Mango</p>
<p>6. Asparagus</p>
<p>7. Sweet peas&#8211;frozen</p>
<p>8. Kiwi</p>
<p>9. Cabbage</p>
<p>10. Eggplant</p>
<p>11. Papaya</p>
<p>12. Watermelon</p>
<p>13. Broccoli</p>
<p>14. Tomato</p>
<p>15. Sweet potato</p>
<p>Keeping this list in your wallet or blackberry is helpful when you are at the grocery store so you can better implement your plan to stick to healthy eating foods.</p>

If you can&#8217;t live without your hair straighteners, daily showers and make up, here are some top tips to help make festival life a little easier.</p>
<p>Shower</p>
<p>Many people scare you with the thought of there being no showers at festivals, which is actually completely untrue, it&#8217;s just knowing where to go. Every major festival will have public showers and if you get there at the right time they can be rather pleasant. Aim to get there early in the morning, think 6am for a clean shower with warm water and small queues. You could even invest in a solar shower for your tent. If you&#8217;re not brave enough for public showers then wet wipes are a girl&#8217;s best friend at festivals, perfect for a fresh feeling in the morning, as well as for cleaning your hands during the day.</p>
<p>Hair</p>

You could perhaps wear loose curls or a headscarf, as it won&#8217;t need washing as much then. Dry shampoo is a good option if you want to wear your hair down because it absorbs excess oil. <p>Make up</p>
<p>Get into a good skincare regime in the run up to a festival and one that you can continue when you arrive. It&#8217;s best to keep your make up light and simple for a festival, and avoid heavy make up that you can&#8217;t remove without the wipes or remover you&#8217;ll be taking with you. If you want to add a bit of colour, some lipstick, eye shadow or liner will work a treat. Suggested make up for festivals include concealer, SPF foundation, eye brightener, eyeliner, mascara and lip balm.</p>

<p>Of course, there is not much we can do about growing older but there are many easy ways to lessen the look of circles below the eyes. Simple home remedies such as placing slices of cucumber, cooled, used tea bags or chilled teaspoons onto your closed eyelids are very effective. Relax and allow the cooling sensation to work its magic.</p>

<p>Understanding Hair growth, and nature&#8217;s construction of our types and textures, will assist in our growing and enjoying natural beautiful hair.</p>
<p>Hair types or textures are divided into four categories.</p>
<p>Type One, refers to the straight, no curl pattern seen naturally in the majority of European and Asian hair. Due to its straight surface, Type One textures reflect light easily, radiating a brilliant shine.</p>
<p>The lack of curls or kinks within this texture allows the natural oil to work from the scalp to the tips without much interference, making Type One hair textures the oiliest of them all.</p>
<p>This texture is mimicked often by getting perms, or straight ironing of the hair with a more defined curl pattern. Sadly, with too much heat being used to accomplish this straight look, the hair follicles are often damaged. This results in the hair never being able to retain its natural state.</p>
<p>Type Two is broken down into three categories (type 2a, type 2b, and type 2c), with the curl pattern tightening with each progression. It&#8217;s a wavy texture, directly between straight and curly hair.</p>
<p>As you go down the spectrum, the less light will be reflected from the surface of some textures. The looser the hair&#8217;s curl pattern, the more it is prone to becoming frizzy. The wavy textures type 2a, 2b, and 2c reflects more light than curly hair, but isn&#8217;t as radiant as type 1.</p>
<p>This look was often mimicked with finger waves, and some conks. Depending on the length of time a perm stayed in the hair, determined whether the wavy, curly, or straight look was accomplished.</p>
<p>Type Three textures are also broken down into three subcategories (3a, 3b, and 3c). This texture has a very pronounced S shape curly texture, with that &#8220;S&#8221; getting noticeably tighter with each subsequent category.</p>
<p>These textures are not as moist as the Type One and Two textures, but not as dry as type four. As with Type two, this texture&#8217;s curls tighten with each subsequent category, with 3a being the loosest of the three.</p>
<p>S-Curls and Jheri curls was made popular with people with coily kinky hair trying to achieve a curlier look to their hair.</p>
<p>Type Four textures are the curly, coily, kinky hair grades that are seen mostly in people of African descent. Type Four is broken down into the three subcategories (4a, 4b, 4c), again gradually tightening the curl pattern until the coily look resembles more of a zig zag than a curve.</p>
<p>This texture is the driest of all the textures therefore making it more prone to breakage. The tight coil pattern makes the reflection of light very difficult. It absorbs light, serving as a natural protector from the sun&#8217;s ultra violet rays.</p>

<p>Depending on the severity of the alopecia, treatments may vary. Alopecia occurs when the hair follicles become inflamed, this causes the hair to fall out. If the individual decides against an alopecia treatment, the hair will still grow back after 6 &#8211; 12 months.</p>
<p>My son of 8 has alopecia, he had 4 patches of smooth bald skin, they were large in size. When the hair first started to fall out you could see tiny black dots, these were the actual follicles, they did not come out attached to the hair. These follicles came out after about 4 weeks, after 6 months the hair started to grow back. The new hair was a lighter shade than it previously was. As of yet this has not occurred again, but I am worried about when it does.</p>
<p>Many people would think that alopecia treatments are medications and lotions but from dealing with my sons alopecia I strongly recommend counseling. My son started to become withdrawn and he would have periods of crying and being naughty especially at school. We were advised to try counseling and after the first 2 sessions we noticed a good change.</p>
<p>It is unknown why this condition can just happen after long periods of no hair loss, so if you have never experienced it before you will worry about it. If you have had bouts of hair loss before then you can cope with it a bit better.</p>
<p>This autoimmune disease is thought to run in the family, so it is extremely likely that a relative has this condition.</p>
<p>Before a conclusive diagnosis has been reached, your doctor will ask you about any past medical problems you may have had. Because you suffer from this condition you are likely to develop other autoimmune diseases, if your doctor feels that this could be an issue he or she will refer your for tests.</p>
<p>Alopecia treatments will vary on the severity of the hair loss. For relatively mild hair loss you may not wish to have treatment.</p>
<p>Alopecia treatments include;</p>
<p>Wigs, unlike the past this product is less noticeable and can be made from real hair.</p>
<p>Finasteride, this medication is only for men. This treatment has side effects.</p>
<p>Saw palmetto, this encourages hair growth it is a herbal supplement available at any health food store.</p>
<p>Minoxidil, no prescription is necessary for this treatment.</p>
<p>Steroid injections, in cases where the hair does not grow back, injections will be given, these are injected in to the bald patches, hair growth takes between 4 &#8211; 6 weeks.</p>
<p>Alopecia treatments can be effective for some people, finding a suitable treatment will take time and to begin with you may not find any that seem to work. Persist with looking and you will find a treatment that suits you. If you are worried or if you feel down, know that you are not alone, many people suffer with this problem and the feelings you have regarding your hair loss are normal. If you are getting a bit down consider a support group or counselor. It is only your hair that has changed not you as a person.</p>
